According to various estimates, Online Marketing including Search Engine Marketing industry is poised to grow at a phenomenal rate in the near future. According to SEMPO, Search Engine Marketing industry alone is projected to grow to over US$ 18b by 2011 from US$ 9.4b in 2006.


Social Commerce continued…2.0

And the reasons Social Commerce is the next big opportunity;

* Over a billion people in networks who belong to the top of the pyramid in workforces, business, government and communities of consumers.

* Networks of people in the next billion

* BOP of 4 billion people who represent a very large market


Who says early stage Entrepreneurs are only looking for funding?

Entrusted with the responsibility of evangelizing the Innovation fund that will shortly be launched by NASSCOM and ICICI, my first stopping points were the TIE events held at Hyderabad and Delhi. While the events themselves were hugely successful going by the number of participants, the enthusiasm and the buzz that surrounded them were testimony to the entrepreneurial spirit that has gripped parts of the nation over the last decade. It was to us at NASSCOM a validation of sorts that we were doing the right thing in setting up a fund that would spur innovation and that the timing was right. One key raw material required for an innovation exists – the idea coupled with the entrepreneurial spirit. We were bringing in the other two – seed capital and the requisite guidance. The combination is what we are convinced will set off those great game-changing innovations from India that so many of us have been waiting for.
