NASSCOM Friday’s 2.0 – the New flavour for the Second Fridays sessions…
This is to keep you posted about the extremely exciting and insightful marketing sessions that we have been organizing over the last three years, under the aegis of NASSCOM Emerging Companies Forum and the benefits these are bringing to some of our members.
We are happy to share with you that after almost three years of hosting these interesting and informal interactions, we have actually come up with a name that best describes these meets. These are now being christened as “Friday’s 2.0,” in recognition of the fact that the sessions are held on Second Fridays and the fact that 2.0 is the flavor of the year and the hottest buzzword doing the rounds of the industry today. As far as the eye can see, 2.0 is the name of the game. It represents not just the “next version,” of things, but also symbolizes maturation, growth, repositioning, re-orientation and what have you. In keeping with current trends and taking into account the fact that the marketing sessions are held on the second Friday of every month, we have decided on “Friday’s 2.0” as the name for the platform that has gained considerable popularity over the past 34 months.
Ankur from Infozech Software helped us to roll out and sustain this endeavour for 3 years now. We started the first tlak on July 8, 2005, with a talk on the “Challenges of Establishing a Sales Team In North America” by Ajay Lavakare of RMSI, we were not very sure about how things would shape up. Our two-fold objective then was to get people (especially representing emerging companies) together on a particular day, and provide them with the opportunity to network, and air their concerns about the issues and challenges they were facing. The idea was also to get people from emerging companies to share their Best Practices so that others could learn from them without having to reinvent the wheel, and possibly implement them within their own domains. Finally, of course, the goal was to get in an expert from the industry to provide fresh perspectives and insights on marketing.
Gradually, this initiative gained ground and mindshare, and began to be used more effectively by an ever enlarging audience. The truly good bit of news is that we have been able to nourish and sustain the initiative and the second Fridays of every month are diligently marked on the calendars of our members.
Our next get-together, scheduled on April 11 2008, is centered around a talk by “serial entrepreneur,” Arvind Gupta, Head-BI and DW, 3i Infotech Ltd. on “Entrepreneurial Story e-enable technologies—Start up…Stabilising…Growth…Acquisition.”
Over the last almost three years, the Friday’s Feasts have given attendees food for thought on numerous issues. NASSCOM’s Board Room in New Delhi has resounded and reverberated with discussions and debates on topics ranging from “Insights on raising Venture Capital in India,” to “Helping SMEs Go Global Through Networking,” to “Transferring the India Experience to Global Emerging Markets.”
