Introducing EMERGEOUT Conclave 2008 – ‘The Community’ Event
Come September and NASSCOM will play host to NASSCOM EMERGEOUT Conclave, its first ever conference for Emerging Companies at Hotel Shangri-La on 29th (Monday).
This event is special in many ways and the prime reason for which you would not like to miss this event is that is a True Community Event – members of the NASSCOM Emerge Community conceptualized (e.g. suggested the agenda topics) the event. The inputs and suggestions provided by various emerging companies are at the foundation of creating the conference agenda and the core team has worked extensively in ensuring that we get the best speakers for that.
When I first looked at the agenda, I was literally shocked (and amazed) to see the breadth and the depth of coverage in a single day conference. I thought probably NASSCOM has made it a three days conference; but it is really a single day event. A highly relevant, action packed agenda speaks about the power of the community.
There are various types of sessions, some of which will run in parallel:
1. Keynote Session: Break All The Rules – by Subroto Bagchi – Gardener, MindTree Limited
2. Valedictory Session: It has Mr. Kiran Karnik who is is chairing the session and the one who started the SME movement at NASSCOM. The speaker for this session is Mr. Raman Roy (the father of the BPO industry) who would talk about Who dares.. Wins.
3. Formal Sessions: These sessions will cover crucial issues, which an emerging company needs to deal at different stages of its lifecycle. For example: Evolving a Strategy for Startups & Emerging Companies It also includes an interesting session titled ‘Confessions of Entrepreneurs’ in which entrepreneurs from some of India’s leading organizations such as Suvir Sujan from Baazee, Pradeep Kar from Microland and Anand Deshpande from Persistent will confess their successes and failures, they went through in building a successful business. Another session titled as ‘Wooing the Customer’ where CIO’s would talk about how and what do they look for when they outsource. Another important element for the emerging & startup companies is the building and retaining talent where some HR gurus would be sharing some insights.
4. Workshop Sessions: Led by industry gurus, such as Sanjiv Mittal – Vice Chairman, Bharti Telesoft, Manu Parpia – Founder & Vice Chairman, Geometric Software, Ankur Lal – Founder & CEO, Infozech software and the VC community, Sanjeev Aggarwal – Managing Director – Helion Venture Capital & Sanjay Anandram from Jumpstartup, the workshop would also have a practitioner Sudha Kumar – CEO, Prayag Consulting. These interactive workshops are meant to empower and to enable the audience in some of the important business areas such as defining value proposition for investors, employees and customers, planning for venture funding and managing funds.
5. Mentoring Sessions: Post lunch, pre-registered entrepreneurs from emerging companies will have an opportunity to be mentored in person by industry experts who have been through the journey, the entrepreneur is about to take. The one-to-one mentoring sessions are available in 45 minutes slot from the following panel of mentors. Interested companies should write to Kunal at kunal@nasscom.in.
Some of the mentor panel which would be available are:

Yet, you will not miss anything! Surprised?
There will be lots of interesting sessions running in parallel, which you want to attend. Moreover, with so many high profile and like-minded people available to get connected, it is easy to get distracted from the main sessions. NASSCOM understands that it is not practically feasible to attend all the sessions and workshops. But in this conference you will still not miss much. With Live blogging, interviews, presentations and photographs, you (and even people who will not be attending the event) will be able to get the most out of it. Still thinking…go ahead and register online for the conference and find out who else is attending at the EMERGE Community site.
