Welcome to the EMERGEOUT Conclave 2008. I am the founder of OMLogic, an Online Marketing Company. OMLoigc is the blogging partner of NASSCOM EMERGEOUT Conclave 2008. I am currently at EMERGEOUT Conclave and its 9:30 AM in the morning. This conference is a culmination of months of efforts by the NASSCOM team and its partners to support the growth of SME’s in India. Som Mittal welcomed all the delegates and guests and stressed on SME’s as a critical part of India. SME’s have been growing at 42% compared to 32% for the entire industry.
Som mentioned how there is a separate place that has been carved out in India in last few years. They operate in a niche and tend to fulfill a specific market requirement.
Som mentioned the mentoring program, and talked about the various programs NASSCOM has been providing to support growth of SME’s in India.
NASSCOM has also been working very well in providing international market access to companies by working with their counterpart organizations in other parts of the world. Som also mentioned that NASSCOM EMERGEOUT blog would come out with the new format next week.
Som then asked Krishnakumar Natarajan to talk about the emerging companies concept.
Krishnakumar started by talking about the idea behind the Emerging Companies Forum. 3 years back, NASSCOM identified that if India continue to be a leader in IT space, we need a ecosystem to help companies be globally competitive. Emerging companies’ forum grew out of this requirement. It helped bring in industry leaders so SME’s can use their expertise and experience. NASSCOM is now expanding the reach to other locations as well (Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, etc.)
Some of the activities from NASSCOM as part of the Emerging Companies Forum are as follows:
- Delhi has a EMERGEOUT session every 2nd Friday of the month and
- Monthly newsletter.
- Emerge blog has been a great success.
- There is a survey called exciting emerging companies to work for: 15 companies are short listed every year, and supports SME’s in building a brand to attract and retain top talent.
- NASSCOM innovation award: 40% of companies are emerging companies.
EMERGEOUT Conclave is the output of what the community felt it needed. This is a community conference where the community put the entire agenda together. Sessions are structured so that there is some learning that every delegate can take and utilize in their organizations. Krishnakumar asked everyone present to participate very actively all day and leverage the collective intelligence of everyone present here.
Krishnakumar then requested Subroto Bagchi to deliver the keynote.
