Why Should Software be Accessible to Persons with disabilities?

600 million people with disabilities in the world, 60 million in India alone.

“The Untapped Market”
Innovation and advancement in technology is enabling people with disabilities to realize their potential. Today, a visually impaired person can work with computers using a screen reader! Transitioning through turbulent times – Talk by Anand Pillai, HCL Technologies

For many years, it was opined that if Dow Jones catches flu, BSE Sensex is at least sure to sneeze. The global meltdown experienced by US and the global economy has had a cascading effect in India, which has resulted in a massive setback of all growth plans for most business houses. The moot question on everyone’s mind is, is it the end of the beginning or merely beginning of the end. Public opinion and intelligensia, keeps oscillating between reluctant optimism and withdrawn pessimism. Realistically of course we are somewhere in between. Mr Anand Pillai of HCL has been around for nearly 26 years and to quote him “has seen through 4 recessionary trends” during his glorious career. We decided to tap into his experience and leave the floor open.
