Who will challenge your grey cells on 29th April in Chennai?

The last few months have witnessed an endless stream of conferences revolving around the downturn and strategies to beat it. Interestingly enough, no one had a clear recipe for success, nor a time frame by which we were expected to come out of the woods. Of course, so much of debate and deliberation have not been generated in recent times but the overall picture was bleak. NASSCOM EMERGEOUT 2009(second edition) is all about highlighting some of the business models which successfully managed to grow, albeit slowly. Let’s examine some of the cases which have been reasonably unaffected by recession. How did it come about? This edition aims to capture that very spirit.

Riding on the phenomenal success of the first edition of the EMERGEOUT Conclave, this year also the speaker confirmation was a smooth process and soon we had our canvas filled with some of specialists who virtually eat, breathe and live the SMB market. This blog will feature some of these thought leaders who, over the years have created a significant impact on their respective business operations and have earned a lot of respect for their sheer experience.

Who better to initiate the day’s proceedings, but our very own president, Mr Som Mittal. Having steered through one of the most turbulent times since the Great Crash of 1929, one would think there is little left for the leader of the apex body to experience. The man himself is an ardent admirer of the SMB sector and has always recognized and encouraged growth of emerging companies. It would also be an opportunity to hear about the future and chalk out a framework for the time ahead.

Mr Krishnakumar Natarajan, Chair of the EMERGE Forum and CEO & MD of MindTree conducted a session in Noida in Jan this yaer, addressing on Leadership during the time of uncertainty. Needless to add, he had the senior executives lapping up every concept like eager students in a University classroom. The amount of deliberation that it generated was something we had not seen in a long time. He will address on how the EMERGE Forum  has shaped up over the last few years and rendering continuous support to the members. We also have Mr Sharad Sharma from Movico Technologies and Mr Chandra from Cognizant sharing the dais and setting the tone for further insights. This session would be moderated by Mr Krishnakumar.

They say tough times don’t last but certainly tough humans do. Entrepreneur Talk: Reinventing Organisations: Lessions from the dotcom burst. Can we bracket the likes of Vijay Sekhar Sharma, One97 Communications, Alok Kejriwal – Contest2win.com, Murugavel, Bharatmatrimony.com and Kumar Vembu, GoFrugal Technologies, in this. I would certainly think so. Join them as they  relate Some Challenges & Solutions in a slowdown – Hear from Entrepreneurs, with a special emphasis on the dotcom burst. We also have Mr Suresh Sambandhan, of OrangeScape moderating the session and taking us through the journey. This session can be spelled out in one word – HOPE!

These are times for cost of sales to be minimum but sales maximum, yes! Tomes of management literature can be found on the web on this, but for the first time we have first gen entrepreneurs from Kolkata ,Mumbai and Hyderabad who have actually implemented it in their companies and achieved desired results. Please join B. Hari of Ontrack Systems, Sashi Reddi of Applabs in the session Effective Sales Strategies for SMEs.  Manjunath M Gowda of S7 Software would be moderating this session and capturing the various nuances.

Acquire or Get Acquired: An M&A deep dive. Last year the parallel sessions in EMERGEOUT were highly successful and to carry on the tradition, we have with us Vivek from BMR Advisors, Vivek Agarwal from Liqvid eLearning and Kami Narayanan of PreMedia Global exploring both sides of the story. The widely experienced Anil Bakht of Eastern Software Systems will be moderating this session and tickling the participant’s curiosity.

In the other room Pallav Nadhani of InfoSoft Global, Dorai Thodla of iMorph and Vinod Harith, CMO Axis will show us From product creation to marketplace creation – How Indian product companies can create a sustainable go-to-market strategy. Last time we ran out of chairs for these parallel sessions and the balance of power was unfairly skewed. What will it be this time?

Think global but act local, is that what it is? Most companies are now concentrating in the domestic market, so Looking Forward : Building a India Focused Strategy draws much response. We have Kumud Goel – KLG Systel, Ms Sudha Nagaraj – Prayag Consulting & Gopalkrishnan –  MindTree addressing on this. Ranga, Athena Infotech will moderate this session.

All our (Un)Conference sessions so far have been runaway successes and Building the Brand Made in India for Software Products will test this theory to the hilt. The two moderators Lakshman Pillai, LPCube & Kishore – Pk4 technologies will do us the honour.

The valedictory session EMERGEOUT: Balancing Board: Navigating the troughs to gain the peaks will feature Phaneesh Murthy – iGate and Gowri Shankar, CEO – Aspire followed by the closing remarks by Ms Sarada Ramani, CEO, C1 India

Watch out for this space as we build up on NASSCOM EMERGEOUT 2009 but before that please rush and register (only limited seats are available). Just kidding. We have a place for all, only just be there!
