Wipro inks MoU for low carbon tech development

Wipro Technologies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enable innovation in low carbon technologies, including those in IT-BPO services with the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) organisation. The MoU outlines the manner in which UKTI and Wipro will collaborate within the framework of UKTI’s Global Value Chain programme, to identify areas of joint interest. The MoU will also explore ways to promote closer cooperation between business and academia in India and the UK. The MoU also envisages various ways in which the collaboration will be taken forward including joint seminars, networking opportunities and innovative uses of digital media and technology, engaging both business and academic stakeholders.

InterraIT enters India via tie-up with Tatwa

InterraIT, a US-based innovative IT solutions provider has announced its foray into the Indian market through a strategic alliance with the Bhubaneshwar based Tatwa Technologies. InterraIT, which has two development centres in Kolkata and NOIDA, has so far been providing complete software and IT solutions for Fortune 500 companies in the US and other countries. The alliance with InterraIT will be jointly leveraged into offering specialised solutions for e-Governance. InterraIT and Tatwa are working on a concept of mobile governance involving mobile applications in specialised fields. InterraIT’s consulting services and service delivery competencies will now be available in Orissa and other states through Tatwa’s market presence. Tatwa will also play a partnership role in maintenance, fine-tuning and even development on a case to case basis. InterraIT and Tatwa are jointly planning serious inroads in the
e-Governance areas across India and also in mobile applications to provide services for the major telecom companies.

Sonata Software ties up with Maximum Processing

IT consulting and software services firm Sonata Software has tied up with Maximum Processing to increase the delivery capabilities of its Stingray System, a web-based property and casualty insurance administration solution. Under the tie-up with Maximum Processing, Sonata will help insurance companies implement a reliable, fast and accurate core system in keeping with the requirements of dynamic business and industry environments. Maximum’s Stingray is a browser-based system, which provides work-flow, imaging and third party interfaces for credit card, general ledger and bureau statistics reporting functions.

Max New York, Genpact in outsourcing deal

Max New York Life Insurance, a joint venture between New York Life International and Max India, is outsourcing its customer service functions to the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firm, Genpact. The customer service practice of Genpact provides support to more than 10 worldwide enterprises across the domains of manufacturing, automotive, telecom and BFSI.

Four Soft bags contract from Canadian firm

Canada’s diversified natural resource company, Sherritt International Corporation, has selected Hyderabad-based Four Soft Limited’s Integrated Logistics Management System (ILMS) ‘4S Visilog Plus’ to be implemented across its multiple locations. 4S Visilog Plus is a fully-integrated web-based solution that provides shippers, consignees and their logistics companies with full visibility across the extended supply chain from customer order through delivery of goods. The solution has an in-built business integration system that provides connectivity with other ERP systems. With this implementation, Sherritt will have a powerful tool to support the rapid expansion of their operations. Sherritt, which produces nickel, cobalt, thermal coal, oil and gas and electricity, licenses its proprietary technologies to other metal companies.

Walgreens, Genpact sign 10-year outsourcing deal

US’ largest drugstore chain Walgreens announced a 10-year outsourcing deal with India’s BPO provider Genpact. As part of the contract, Walgreens will shift its accounting processes and jobs to Genpact. The exact size of the deal was not disclosed. Under the deal, Genpact will acquire the Danville facility and maintain or grow employment levels over the duration of the agreement. Around 500 Walgreens accounting employees in Danville (Illionois) will move on to Genpact’s payroll within the next four months, with the remainder staying with Walgreens. With this acquisition, Walgreen’s Danville centre will also become the largest of the three delivery centres for Genpact.
